Powertrain Calibration Engineer

Then we want to hear from you.   We are seeking a Powertrain Calibration Engineer. This role is crucial in supporting the Start of Production Projects within the Non-Road Mobile Machinery (NRMM) and related sectors.   This position is ideal for flexible individuals who relish the opportunity to expand their skills in new areas, rapidly adapt to different projects, and are keen to make a substantial impact in the field of electrified powertrains and virtual development.   Your responsibilities as a Powertrain Calibration Engineer: Leading the calibration process for various powertrain components, utilising both toolsets and processes. Crafting and managing detailed engine and system test plans, ensuring all aspects of the powertrain are evaluated. Conducting thorough system simulation activities, including planning, execution, and analysis to optimise powertrain performance. Performing data analysis and root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and solve complex powertrain system issues. Developing system models and calibration simulations, particularly using tools such as MATLAB SIMULINK. Generating and presenting comprehensive reports, including recommendations and proposals, to both internal and external stakeholders. Collaborating across different teams and clients to achieve project objectives, promoting best practices and technical solutions.   Your current experience which will help you as a Powertrain Calibration Engineer: A degree in a relevant engineering discipline. A deep understanding of diesel internal combustion engine operation, performance, and ancillary systems. Familiarity with powertrain system requirements, including emissions standards and vehicle control systems. Proficiency in simulation systems, notably MATLAB SIMULINK, and experience with calibration toolsets. Strong analytical skills, capable of interpreting complex data sets and providing clear, actionable insights. Excellent teamwork capabilities and communication skills, able to convey technical information effectively. A self-starter mindset, with the flexibility and adaptability to work on a variety of projects within the NRMM sector.   What will set you apart as a Powertrain Calibration Engineer: PhD in a relevant subject area. Specific experience in battery, fuel cell, or ICE design and development within the NRMM or heavy-duty sectors. Knowledge of calibration and data analysis tools such as CONCERTO, Vector CANape, CAMEO, DIAdem, etc. An understanding of virtual calibration techniques and tools.   What you can expect as a Powertrain Calibration Engineer: Competitive salary up to £55k, dependent on experience.
