Leading networking and security consultancy requires a Network Design Engineer to design and deliver network solutions for enterprise customers in the financial services, media and utilities industries.
The firm specialises in datacentre, WAN, and Campus network solutions as well as expertise in network automation and observability and monitoring. The Network Design Engineer role "bridges the gap" between the Network Architects and the Network Project Engineers and is key to the successful delivery of complex network solutions. The ideal engineer will have extensive knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) solutions (Cisco ACI & SDA) complemented by deep knowledge of Fortinet network security solutions.
Further Responsibilities:
Design scalable, secure, and highly available network solutions based on client requirements
Develop detailed design documentation, including network diagrams, equipment configurations, and implementation plans
Evaluate and recommend network hardware, software, and services to meet client needs
Work closely with project teams to manage and execute implementation tasks
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including security, datacentre, and cloud engineers, to deliver comprehensive solutions
Communicate technical concepts effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Gather client requirements and translate them into network solutions that align with their
Document network designs, configurations, and operational procedures
Provide training and support to client IT teams to ensure successful network management post-deployment
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Cisco products, services, and industry best practices
Experience and Background:
Strong understanding of IP networking concepts (routing, switching, subnetting, VLANs, etc.).
Proficiency with Cisco networking technologies, including Cisco routers, switches, ASA/Firepower firewalls, and Nexus devices
Experience with network protocols such as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, and VPNs.
Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting enterprise network solutions
Familiarity with network security practices, such as firewall policies, access control lists (ACLs), and intrusion prevention systems (IPS)
Relevant Cisco certifications are highly desired, such as CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), CCDP (Cisco Certified Design Professional), or CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert)
Familiarity with automation tools (Python, Ansible) for network configuration and management
Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and integration with on-premises networks

Hybrid working (3 days per week). Central London location.
