Major Recruitment are looking for an experienced Engineering Workshop Manager to work for a highly successful water pump company. Our client, a well-established, family-run business with a rich history dating back to 1842, is seeking an experienced and highly organised individual to join their team. This full-time position offers a six-month probation period, with a permanent role for the right candidate.

Our client is a technically driven company specialising in pump solutions, managing projects from concept to completion and delivering comprehensive turnkey packages across various industries. The ideal candidate should have experience in pumps and would be well-suited for someone looking to transition from hands-on work to a more office-based, indoor role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily workshop operations, ensuring efficient processes and workflow.
  • Receive and organise pump repairs, provide accurate costings to clients, and manage timely product deliveries.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and liaise with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth communication.
  • Lead, organise, and manage the workshop team, prioritising repairs and servicing tasks.
  • Prepare quotes for repairs and new pumps, produce reports, and maintain safe working systems.
  • Manage maintenance of equipment and occasionally perform repairs or fault-finding on pumps, motors, and gearboxes.
  • Handle additional duties as required.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage both staff and workload effectively.
  • Strong numerical, computer literacy, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Experience in maintaining strong customer relationships and providing exceptional service.
  • Attention to detail, self-motivation, and physical capability to handle tools and goods.
  • A recognised qualification in Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in both Engineering and Management roles.
  • Desirable: ILM Level 3 qualification.
  • A full UK driving licence.
