Location: Remote (Manchester area, quarterly office visits to London required)

Our client, a rapidly growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) based in Manchester, is seeking a skilled 2nd Line Support Engineer. Over the past few years, they have expanded their team from 45 to 150 talented professionals and continue to go from strength to strength. This role offers a competitive salary of up to £35,000 and the flexibility to work remotely, with the requirement to visit the Manchester office once a quarter.



Role Overview: As a 2nd Line Support Engineer, you will be a crucial part of the technical team, providing exceptional support to a diverse client base. You will be responsible for handling escalated technical issues, troubleshooting, and providing solutions to ensure clients' IT systems run smoothly.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 2nd line support for a range of technologies including Hyper-V, VMware, Windows 10, firewall management, Office 365, and Active Directory.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborate with 1st line support to ensure seamless issue escalation and resolution.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation.
  • Assist in the deployment and management of virtual environments.
  • Monitor and maintain firewall configurations to ensure network security.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions in Active Directory and Office 365.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain strong client relationships.


Key Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a 2nd line support role within an MSP or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Hyper-V and VMware for virtualization.
  • Proficiency in Windows 10 troubleshooting and support.
  • Experience with firewall management and network security.
  • In-depth understanding of Office 365 administration.
  • Expertise in Active Directory management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
