ICT - Driving Technological Transformation

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Wiltshire Councils ICT department working in the Service Delivery team delivering new solutions for Wiltshire Council.

This post requires the post holder to have an in-depth understanding of the council's Geographical Information System (GIS) and have expertise in the full suite of ESRI products and be familiar with the integration of GIS into core business applications.

As a GIS Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of complex GIS projects, by developing innovative solutions and providing expert technical knowledge to enhance the organisations spatial data infrastructure and decision-making processes. You will take on the issues escalated from Service Desk Engineers, conducting in-depth investigations and analysis to deliver lasting resolutions and be responsible for configuring, customizing and deploying GIS software applications and tools as well as maintaining spatial databases.

Our ideal candidate will be educated to a degree level or possess equivalent experience in GIS or a related field. Strong knowledge and experience of working with ESRI technology, along with a strong familiarity with ESRI solutions and a good working knowledge of integrating GIS into core business systems, such as planning will be crucial in this role. Experience n installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting ESRI GIS from a 3rd-level perspective, as well as proficiency in ArcGIS Server technology and experience with ESRI Enterprise Geodatabases will also be essential.
