As a Junior Appian Developer at Barclays, you will join the Risk, Finance and Treasury Technology Team where you will participate in the execution of a range of programmes and processes of key business significance. Specifically, you will support the design, implementation and maintenance of the Bank’s applications and analytic tools based on the Appian platform growing your knowledge of these tools and applications throughout your career journey with us. To be successful as a Junior Appian Developer you should have experience in: Development in object-oriented programming, specifically Java/J2EE or Python Working knowledge with SQL, query editing and performance tuning SDLC, including environment configuration, code deployment process and testing of enterprise applications Working on cross-functional teams building products using Agile methodologies Some other highly valued skills include: Some previous experience as an Appian Designer & Developer (preferred) Willing to learn new Programming skills, Business processes and become a fully trained Appian Developer Working experience with Web Services and API integration The role is based in our Northampton office Purpose of the role To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. Accountabilities Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance. Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives. Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing. Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth. Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions. Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
