Mechanical Design Engineer

Conveyor Design Engineer Carlisle £50,000 - £53,000 I am working with specialist Mechanical Machinery Manufacturer, who are looking for a Conveyor Design Engineer. They require a design engineer to join their conveyor team, to take approved can line layouts from concept to installation. The company has full manufacturing capabilities at their site in Carlisle, so they make what they design from mass production repeatable sections to custom one-off design solutions. They also work with existing can plants to upgrade production lines, so some travelling to existing sites around the world will be possible. Responsibilities Liaise with both our sales team and directly with clients to identify their requirements. Investigate and undertake analysis on how to improve existing projects. Summarise engineering calculations in an easy-to-understand manner. Create technical reports to summarise stages, from concepts to final commissioning. Cover the concept, specification, tender and development of new projects. Use both 3D and 2D CAD systems to design and visualise projects. Identify new systems and processes to drive quality, efficiency and save costs. Communicate effectively with the clients, colleagues and contractors involved in a project. Plan effectively to ensure projects are delivered on time, to standard and to budget. Requirements: Minimum of Higher National Certificate (HNC) in engineering A BA or BSC degree is preferred. Well-practiced in CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks etc.) Willingness to learn new CAD and other IT software when required. Minimum of 10 years relative work experience. Machinery Design background Sheet Metal and Fabrication knowledge A good track record of engineering, from 3D modelling to detailed 2D fabrication drawings. Effective communication skills, both verbally and written. Time management, organisation, and ability to work to deadlines. Salary: Full-time Intermediate level role. 3-month probation period. Any travelling will be fully covered Office based in Carlisle office, 0800 to 1700 daily Monday to Friday. Flexible working possible once probation period complete.
