Mechanical Gas Engineer- Hybrid

We are assisting a leading construction and utility contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions. Due to continued growth, the company now needs an experienced Mechanical Gas Engineer to work remotely and conduct site visits in Macclesfield when required. As a Mechanical Gas Engineer, you will work closely with the Design Team and be responsible for the design, installation, service, maintenance, and repair of gas systems for the Utilities sector while ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations and providing exceptional services to clients.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements:

Reporting to the Design Manager you will install, inspect, and test gas systems, boilers, and mechanical equipment for the utility projects.

Commission and configure systems to meet the required mechanical design and ensure optimal system performance.

Conduct safety checks and ensure all systems comply with Gas Safe and industry regulations, report any issues to the Design Manager, use CDM risk registers and resolve issues efficiently.

Maintain and manage mechanical design reports, material data sheets, material take offs, pressure test calculations, engineering line diagrams and pipeline route plans.

Perform technical reviews of design outputs to identify potential clashes, inconsistencies, or deviations from project specifications and industry standards.

Review and manage general arrangement drawings, pipeline connection detail drawings, flow stopping detail drawings, crossing detail drawings, and hazardous area drawings.

Prepare feasibility, conceptual designs, and detailed design documentation to support project decision-making and outline innovative solutions ensuring accuracy and alignment with project goals and industry standards.

Proficient in developing design drawing using AutoCAD 2D and 3D software.

Take part in design reviews, coordination sessions, and site meetings, facilitating effective communication and ensuring alignment across all parties.

Degree in mechanical engineering with strong gas design experience.

Extensive experience as Mechanical Gas Engineer within EPC projects.

Design and verification of Onshore UK and International Gas Network experience is desirable.

Proficient in using AutoCAD 2D and 3D software in making pipeline or diversion routes and connection designs.

Strong understanding of current gas safety regulations, codes, and health & safety standards.

Attention to detail with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot faults on projects.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Full clean UK driving licence with the ability to travel across the UK when required.
