Position: SENIOR QUALITY ENGINEER
Reports to: Senior Technical Manager
The company is a well-established, thriving pseudo manufacturer and distributor of electrical products, including wiring accessories, LED lighting, safety alarms and cable. Its products are specified by many Housing Developers and are distributed through electrical wholesalers.
The company currently has a turnover in excess of £80m in the UK and enjoys a strong
position in its market place.
Job Scope: The successful candidate will be based onsite in Bedfordshire and required to meet the following functions and responsibilities:
Quality Engineering
• Monitoring product quality and reporting to the Management Team
• Investigating product quality issues to establish the root cause and liaising with the Product Engineers and the factory to implement improvements
• Timely resolution of quality issues through robust and effective root cause analysis and implementation of permanent and preventative corrective actions, with the aim to improve performance and driving the closure of non-conformities
• Provide Quality Engineering resource and support the development of FMEA s and quality control and test plans as part of the product Life
Cycle Management process for new products (and existing products when requested) which will address project quality and reliability activities
• Review customer complaints where necessary
PD/GI Inspections
• Pre-Delivery Inspections manage factory self PDI s, China Quality Engineers and 3rd Party PDI s, to ensure product meets its specification
• Goods Inwards inspections manage and undertake GI inspections to ensure product meets its specification
• Product Rework Quality Control of products being reworked, writing rework instructions and ensuring they are adhered to
Auditing
• Manage factory desktop or 3rd party audits, including ethical audits, instructing Far East team
Quality Assurance
• This role will lead to managing Quality Assurance and ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Management Systems
Skills Required
• Experience in Quality Engineering and Quality Assurance
• Experience with electrical and mechanical disciplines
• Report writing accurately conveying conclusions, including 8D reports etc.
• Knowledge of electrical installation products and electrical product
application is an advantage

• Work unsupervised using own initiative
