Technical Support Engineer -Utilities £35 - 40k, mobile role, van, phone, laptop, This is an exciting opportunity for anyone with confident knowledge of mains service laying from the utilities, gas or water industry looking to move into a client-facing, support role. Responsible for providing onsite and technical support, robot operation, training, service, and repair to customers using or trialing their equipment. The role: Operating robots on customer sites Providing technical support both face-to-face and remotely Working with customers on-site providing training, surveying services, demonstrations, troubleshooting user operating problems and basic equipment repair Presenting products at exhibitions and conferences Administer training courses of products to customers Conduct technical product presentations to customers Work with the design team to provide practical advice and feedback on products to assist product development and improvements Work with and communicate new product information internally providing training where necessary Assist with field trials and the completion of documentation for field trials with customers such as but not limited to Risk Assessment, Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work, G23. Assist in writing the technical manuals for products Be the liaison for field trials with all customers & the Engineering teams to trial new innovative products The Person Hands-on engineering background ideally with experience of operating robots Apprenticeship, HNC, HND, or Degree qualified in Mechanical or a SHEA Gas / Water Safety Passport Excellent customer facing, organisational and communication skills. The ability to train customers, operators, and team members Happy to work outside on excavation sitesPrepared to train for: Network Construction Operations (Water) Gas or Water Apprenticeship completed NCOG1 Network Construction Operations Level 1 or above Gas (City & Guilds) (preferred) Experience of Inspection, testing and repair equipment within the pipeline, water and / or gas industry SHEA Gas safety Passport NCOG1 Network Construction Operations Level 1 Gas (City & Guilds) NCO2GM/GS Network Construction Operations Level 2 Gas (City & Guilds) Ground Support Excavation / Deep Excavation Awareness course Low risk confined spaces courseThe company: A successful SME who cares passionately about the people who work for them.
