Principal Safety Engineer

Principal Safety Engineer Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 + benefits Location: London/Surrey border Eligibility: Must be eligible to apply for UK Security Check (SC) clearance. HAZOPs, FFA, FTA, and FMECA Def Stan 00-056 and IEC61508 COTS PE-based systems My client a leader in defence systems is actively seeking a Principal Safety Engineer to work on pioneering projects that leverage cutting-edge technology and innovation for strategically important National Defence programmes. As a vital member of the Systems Safety team, you will deliver complex safety-critical systems and uphold defence standards across multiple platforms. Key Responsibilities for the position of Principal Safety Engineer * Conduct safety analyses including HAZOPs, FFA, FTA, and FMECA, adhering to safety processes and guidelines from Def Stan 00-056 and IEC61508. * Generate safety requirements ensuring compliance with customer safety targets. * Present compelling safety arguments to stakeholders, influencing key safety decisions. * Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to enhance our reputation through high-quality outputs. * Support audits during internal and external design reviews and safety committee meetings. Experience required for the position of Principal Safety Engineer * Proven track record in Systems Safety within the UK Defence industry. * Relevant qualification (Degree, HND, or HNC) in Engineering or Safety Management, or equivalent experience. * Familiarity with international and defence standards like IEC 61508 and Def Stan 00-056. * Experience in safety/reliability analysis techniques and risk assessment methodologies. * Understanding of safety assurance for COTS PE-based systems or high-integrity software
