Rate: £300 P/Day - Inside IR35 - Umbrella

Job Summary

\n

This role is for a Communications Engineer to work on the Heathrow Airport Technology Delivery Partner (TDP) Project. The role will be based at Heathrow Airport 5 days / Nights a week (typically Monday to Friday). The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of implementation projects across the campus in the installation of physical infrastructure and active network equipment, internally and externally. The project is involved in large-scale construction work at the airport and adherence to relevant Health and Safety requirements is paramount.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

\n

Core Activities

\n
    \n
  • Data Cabling Engineers are responsible for cable pulling, dressing in and termination & testing of voice, CAT6 and fibre cables within an Airport environment.
  • \n
  • Engineers need to be able to complete the following tasks:
  • \n
  • Installing comms cables (CAT6, Voice and Fibre multicore.
  • \n
  • Installing of various types of containment (tray / basket)
  • \n
  • Termination of CAT6 panels and outlets
  • \n
  • Termination of multicore Fibre using a splicer (Fujikura 60s / 70S experience and familiarity or similar preferred)
  • \n
  • Testing copper & fibre cables using Fluke DSX and OTDR preferred
  • \n
  • Patching Cat6 and fibre cables
  • \n
  • Fault Finding issues.
  • \n
  • Ensure you are fully briefed and understand the works and safe working practises.
  • \n
  • Adequately and diligently undertake all works.
  • \n
  • Undertake installation works to the Fujitsu / Heathrow standards
  • \n
  • Assist the Supervisor with completing the Point of Works Risk Assessments where required.
  • \n
  • Identify and highlight both H&S and implementation risks / issues to the Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • \n
  • Ensure safe working practises are being maintained by yourself and others.
  • \n
  • Attend NABS / DABS
  • \n
  • Actively promote a positive health and safety culture.
  • \n
  • Day and night working as required to successfully deliver the project.
  • \n
  • Carry all reasonable duties required for successful delivery of the project.
  • \n
  • Undertake survey works and collate information into survey findings documentation.
  • \n

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES

\n

Experience

\n
    \n
  • Has a clear knowledge and experience of installing on-site IT infrastructure projects within challenging operational environments.
  • \n
  • Can work successfully within a team.
  • \n
  • Can demonstrate knowledge of safe working practices.
  • \n
  • Aviation or Rail experience preferable.
  • \n
\n

\n

Technical Experience

\n
    \n
  • Cabling and Physical Infrastructure installation.
  • \n
  • Preferably has experience of Heathrow and airport equipment, systems, processes, and installation standards.
  • \n
  • Has knowledge of network infrastructure, fault finding and use of test equipment.
  • \n
\n

\n

Qualifications

\n

Mandatory

\n
    \n
  • CSCS / ECS (Valid Industry related)
  • \n
\n

\n

Preferred but not mandatory:

\n
    \n
  • Driving licence / Airside Driving experience.
  • \n
  • Working at Height Training.
  • \n
  • Confined space and rescue.
  • \n
  • Asbestos Awareness UKATA.
  • \n
  • Other required training will be provided.
