Founding Frontend Engineer Package : £80,000 - £150,000 + Equity % (Depending on experience) Location : UK based (Hybrid) - Unfortunately we can't provide VISA sponsorship Bloom have been retained by an innovative, early-stage AI startup spun out of South Park Commons, and we are looking for a founding engineer to join their journey. The founding team have a very impressive background, having built AI products from scratch at some very well known businesses, led Product and Strategy teams at Google, conducted research at Oxford and Imperial College on generative media and natural language processing and have been backed by leading investors and venture capital firms You will be building and developing intelligent operating systems tailored to the needs of creative professionals. The product's autonomous agents are designed to understand, generate, and process content across various media formats, including text, audio, video, and images, aiming to enhance creative workflows and knowledge-based work. What you’ll do As the founding frontend engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the company while building the future of creative software from the ground up. You will start with the user’s needs and build intuitive interfaces that leverage the power of AI to cut complexity and enable smooth organisation and discoverability of content. Your work will involve: Design and develop user-friendly interfaces that make using the product as natural as picking up a pencil. You will lead and own our entire frontend engineering efforts and build from scratch AI-powered systems to intelligently search, organise, discover and remix content. Work with our founding designer to shape how the product works, looks, and feels. Collaborate with our wider engineering team to contribute to full-stack engineering efforts that may involve backend AI models, databases, user authorisation flows, real-time content retrieval and collaboration software, among others. Ensure the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our systems across the entire tech stack. You will write clean, maintainable, and efficient code that can scale with the growth of our user base. What you’ll need ️ Minimum 3-5 years of professional development experience with TypeScript & React to ship user-facing products as a frontend and/or full-stack engineer. Strong software engineering experience with the ability to pragmatically think through software design and architecture to ship rapidly while scaling to hundreds of thousands of users. Proven ability to write well-tested, readable, and performant code that adheres to best-in-class engineering practices. Curiosity, ambition, kindness, and firm opinions loosely held. Nice to have Experience with AI/ML models and integrating them into scalable production systems or creative projects. You have implemented full-text or semantic search interfaces and systems. Bonus points if you did work on systems that extended beyond text, such as image or video retrieval engines. Why join?
