What you'll bedoing:

• Liaison with build organisation and provision ofengineering support to ensure the as built product reflects designintent
Understand the key requirements and criticaldimensions for major structuralcomponents Take the lead on design changes that affect majorstructural components, whether they originate from emergent issues,process improvement,etc Support or act as the engineering member of thetest and authorisation groups (depending onexperience) Develop knowledge of the unique build sequence ofthe Reactor Compartment Unit of the submarine and provideengineering support
• Participate as an engineering representative in theplanning and execution of all major construction evolutions withthe scope of the Reactor CompartmentUnit
Development & presentation of sound technicalsolutions to issues arising during construction of the NavalReactor Plant Providing technical rationale and sound engineeringrecommendations to Rolls-Royce and MoD to challenge existingrequirements

Your skills andexperiences:

Essential:

• Engineering degree level qualification - Mechanicalor Structural as adiscipline
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, includingknowledge of geometric dimensioning andtolerancing Awareness of weld engineering and Nos-DestructiveExaminationtechniques Technical report writing skills & experience ofjustifying designchange

Desirable:

• Knowledge of stress, fatigue, and thermal analysis
Nuclear radiation shieldingawareness Previous Nuclear Plant experience Knowledge of the Nuclear Industry and itsregulators

The Platform Nuclear Engineering Departmentteam:

As a Principal Engineer - Nuclear (Mechanical), youwill be supporting the design, build & test activities on theNaval Reactor Plant (NRP) across multiple programmes to ensure thedesign intent is met in the final product. This includescoordinating and leading the resolution of a diverse set of issuesthat arise during the build and test of the reactor plant, with astrong emphasis on developing technical solutions to problems, aswell as ensuring that the associated safety case is adequate,coupled with providing advice to various internal teams such asEngineering Delivery, Test & Commissioning, Operations andProject. Externally, you will be required to represent the businessand operate alongside out Enterprise partners, namely the Ministryof Defence (MoD) and Rolls-Royce Marine Power. We offer relocation support packagesacross all Submarine roles, subject to meeting eligibilitycriteria.
