PR Freelancer for Aerospace and Defense This position will play a key role in building Element’s brand awareness and reputation in the global Aerospace and Defense. Working as an extension of the in-house PR team, the individual will be responsible for developing and managing key media and analyst relationships at a national and global level and delivering campaigns and tactical comms initiatives in support of the team’s PR goals. Duties and Responsibilities Execute strategic PR and marketing plans by delivering highly effective thought leadership and PR activities aligned with the overall business strategy and trending news topics/issues. Develop analyst relations strategy and plan Develop relationships with national and trade media and pitch stories appropriately. Partner on message development Oversee and develop content for press releases, bylined articles and blogs, key messages, media statements, Q&A documents, briefings, social media posts. Working with our brand, content, PR and technical experts, Input into the company’s thought leadership program with relevant and topical content themes that help build Element’s positioning in the industry and drive demand for our services. Work actively with the in-house PR team and our two Strategic Marketing Directors for the (insert industry) to ensure PR activities are fully integrated into annual plans. Work closely with the in-house events team to ensure PR and media opportunities at high profile industry events are optimized. When needed, act as a member of the global crisis communications team Develop effective partnerships across the organization, including key spokespeople and thought leaders and relevant marketing stakeholders. Input into the centralized media measurement, monitoring and reporting processes. Qualifications: Education Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or public relations required. Experience At least 7 years corporate, agency or public-sector public relations or journalist experience Experience as a media spokesperson, working with executives and working with in-house marketing and communications teams. Industry experience and knowledge essential. Must possess strong media and analyst relations in the global (insert industry) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must have excellent writing and versatile communications skills to draft and edit tactical communications including press releases, speeches, memos and statements. Strong understanding of social media tactics and channels. Must have the ability to manage projects against deadlines, translate complex material into comprehensible language for targeted audiences. Must have strong and proactive communications planning, issues and project management skills, sound judgment, creativity, resourcefulness and be results oriented. Proven track record of working with journalists in high-stakes settings, including issues management. Demonstrated success in developing ongoing relationships that result in strong media placements in top tier media. Proven ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders and develop strong relationships to ensure success. Highly motivated self-starter. Experience of working with stakeholders across multiple time zones. Flexible and agile, with the ability to change course when need arises.
