Your new role
Your new role as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer will involve ensuring that manufacturing processes are carried out efficiently and cost-effectively. You will be responsible for evaluating quality control processes and making recommendations for improvements, analysing and reporting on production processes, methods, schedules, downtime, cycle times, machine availability, and waste management. Your role will also include ensuring compliance with relevant policies and government regulations, reviewing and calculating costs of tools and equipment, and predicting future production overheads. You will analyse and plan workflow, space requirements, and equipment placement to maximise efficiency, oversee operations staff to ensure adherence to procedures, and establish effective work sequences. Additionally, you will provide manufacturing decision-making information, design CNC programs using CADCAM, lead operations improvement activities, and provide production engineering support. Evaluating and recommending new methods, design changes, tooling, and fixtures to reduce manufacturing and assembly time will be key aspects of your role. You will also focus on product cost reduction, train and support operations staff, develop Process FMEAs and Control Plans, and maintain elements within the Manufacturing Bill of Materials, including updating the ERP system.
What you'll need to succeed
What you'll need to succeed is a strong background in manufacturing engineering, with proven experience in evaluating and improving production processes. You should have excellent analytical skills to understand data and draw meaningful conclusions, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. Leadership skills to drive continuous improvement, manage processes, and implement new concepts are essential. Knowledge of lean manufacturing processes, problem-solving abilities, and experience in designing CNC programs using CADCAM are highly valued. You should also have the ability to train and support operations staff, develop training manuals and work instructions, and maintain elements within the Manufacturing Bill of Materials.
