Short Description:
A Senior Software Engineer at Ford Digital loves to code, puts the customer first, finds purpose in their work, is driven to uncover better ways of developing digital products by doing it and helping others to do it. The team we’re building love working using Test-Driven Development in pairs or ensembles and have extensive experience in developing Android apps, making UI (User Interface) tests fast running and focused. They are happy to share knowledge with colleagues and have deep expertise in one or more technologies and/or technical practices that are important to us.
How We Work:
We are focused on outcomes, not outputs. We work remotely, typically with one day per week on site (details below). We seek to work collaboratively with Product Managers to find solutions to customer problems. We believe strongly in the benefits of Test-Driven Development, Trunk-Based Development (no Pull-Requests), Continuous Deployment (where practicable), Pair/Ensemble Programming and other related practices, many inspired by eXtreme Programming.
We ship apps internally multiple times per day, with releases to the Play Store fortnightly. We aspire to ship more often and make Play Store releases as frequently as practical. Quality is paramount, as maintaining a negligible change failure rate is important to us.

- Compose UI, Compose navigation.
- Retrofit.
- Gradle.
- Testing frameworks – JUnit, Mockk, Paparazzi.
- Here Maps SDK.
- Library Creation and publishing in Jfrog.
- Github actions, Jenkins.
- Monitoring tools such as Datadog, dynatrace, amplitude, splunk, Play console.
- Security Tools such as FOSSA, AGEGIS, Black Duck, Sonarqube.
- Build performance monitoring with develocity/local cache.
- End to End automation using espresso or UI Automator.

Qualifications
You have experience, competencies, talents, and aptitudes for software development in some of the areas we have mentioned.
All other academic, professional, experienced-based qualifications are a bonus.
The practical stuff
- We are based in Here East, Hackney Wick, London, (former site of the Press office for the Olympics).
- Our people work remotely, or in the office, or a mix of both. Many choose to be in the office more than once per week, but that is not a requirement.
