My client is a leading engineering consultancy specialising in the design and development of cutting-edge powertrain systems. We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (Powertrain) to join our team and play a key role in the creation of high-performance, reliable, and efficient powertrain solutions. If you have a passion for mechanical design and a drive to work on next-generation powertrain systems, I want to hear from you.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop powertrain components, including engines, transmissions, drivelines, and other drivetrain systems.
  • Use CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo) to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings of powertrain parts and assemblies.
  • Perform engineering calculations, including thermal, stress, and fatigue analysis, to validate designs and ensure durability and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including vehicle integration, manufacturing, and testing, to ensure designs meet performance, cost, and safety targets.
  • Work closely with suppliers and production teams to develop prototypes and ensure manufacturability.
  • Conduct design reviews, root cause analysis, and implement design modifications to address issues or improve system performance.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends in powertrain design, including hybrid and electric vehicle systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Years of experience in powertrain design and development.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks) and finite element analysis (FEA) tools.
  • Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, electric motors, transmissions, and hybrid powertrain systems.
  • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes relevant to powertrain components.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
