My client are a UK-based company specializing in providing automation solutions and services to various industries. The company designs and manufactures custom automation systems, often focusing on improving production efficiency, quality control, and cost reduction for its clients. Selling points for the role: This position is designed to replace a retiring team member, but it offers tremendous potential for driving substantial sales growth. The sales pipeline is already looking really strong for Q4 so my client is willing to wait for the perfect candidate. Key services offered include: * Custom Automation Solutions: Tailored automation systems to meet specific industrial needs. * Robotics Integration: Incorporating robotic technologies to enhance manufacturing processes. * Control Systems: Designing and implementing control systems for automated equipment. * Consultancy and Support: Offering consultancy services, project management, and after-sales support to ensure the seamless implementation of automation projects. They typically serve industries such as pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, automotive, and aerospace, where precision and reliability are critical. Reason for role: Due to retirement of technical sales manager Job Specification Day to Day: * Site Visits: Regularly visit client sites to assess project needs, gather technical information, and provide on-the-ground consultation. * Trade Shows: Represent the company at industry trade shows, network with potential clients, and stay updated on the latest trends in automation. * Cost Sheets: Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for each project, ensuring accuracy and profitability. * Proposals: Create comprehensive technical proposals for clients, including project plans, timelines, and pricing. * Lead Generation: Actively pursue new leads through networking, industry contacts, and outreach strategies to grow the business. * Tenders: Participate in tender processes by preparing and submitting bids, ensuring competitive and compelling proposals. * Follow-Ups: Maintain consistent communication with prospects and clients to follow up on proposals, ensure satisfaction, and secure future business. Essential Requirements: * Ideal experience in providing bespoke automation solutions, Alternatively, experience in industries related to automation * Preferably over 10 years of experience, with a progression from a hands-on mechanical engineering role into sales, demonstrating technical expertise and sales acumen. * The bespoke nature of the business means that no two projects are the same. The ideal person must be quick-thinking, adaptable, and capable of jumping between multiple, often complex projects while maintaining a high level of organization. * Ideally, the candidate should come with an established network of contacts within the manufacturing industry, especially in the OEM sector, often referred to as a "black book" of connections. * The primary customer base consists of manufacturing companies, predominantly Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), so familiarity with their needs and challenges is essential. * Ideally, the candidate should have a background in designing and delivering bespoke automation solutions, understanding the complexities of customized projects.
