Job Summary

Novocomms Limited (“NVC”) – Birmingham

NVC is looking for a full-time RF Development Engineer (Ref: 2024RFDE06). The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in mmWave technology, with the ability to design, analyze, develop, validate, and integrate RF modules critical to the success of our beam steering wireless systems. This role demands collaboration across technical teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of wireless communication. 


Duties & Responsibilities

·       Lead the development of mmWave RF systems, including front-ends and transceivers, ensuring alignment with high-frequency mmWave communication objectives.

·       Design and simulate mmWave RF circuits and systems, employing advanced tools (ADS, HFSS, CST) to address unique mmWave challenges such as path loss and beamforming.

·       Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mmWave RF modules into CPE products, optimizing for performance, power, and efficiency in the mmWave spectrum.

·       Conduct extensive testing and characterization of mmWave RF components, utilizing specialized equipment to validate performance and compliance with industry standards.

·       Innovate in the design of RF systems for mmWave applications, focusing on achieving high data rate transmission and efficient signal processing.

·       Document development processes and technical specifications, contributing to the body of knowledge on mmWave RF engineering within NVC.


Essential Knowledge & Skills:

·       A degree in RF/Microwave Electronics, Wireless Systems, or a related field (BEng/MSc required, PhD preferred), with at least 5 years of experience in RF development, specifically in mmWave applications.

·       Expertise in mmWave RF design principles, including knowledge of beam steering technologies, phased arrays, and the unique propagation characteristics of mmWave frequencies.

·       Proficiency in RF design and simulation software (ADS, HFSS, CST) with a strong focus on mmWave applications.

·       Hands-on experience with mmWave RF hardware, including the design, testing, and troubleshooting of circuits and systems.

·       Familiarity with the latest developments in mmWave technology, standards, and regulatory requirements for wireless communication devices.

·       Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Salary: Exceptional compensation package (between £65k to £120k per annum depends on experience), including competitive salary, share options, pension and bonus.

Location: NVC has its current R&D headquarters in Birmingham.
