The Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre is looking for a Technical Lead to play a role in the leadership, management and expansion of applied research, innovation and knowledge transfer in machining technology. You will lead teams of engineers and technicians to undertake innovative research and development activities in collaboration with industry, different technology areas, technology providers, national technology centres and academia to deliver key projects, securing partnerships and funding. You will develop and implement technology strategies, grow regional and international links and contribute to building AMIC's talent and capabilities. About the person: The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria: Honours Degree, or equivalent experience, in related engineering discipline Substantial relevant experience initiating, executing and managing multifaceted industrial-focussed research & development projects within deadlines and budget, displaying strong and effective resource management abilities. Strong evidence of technical excellence and understanding of fundamental engineering and materials concepts such as dynamics, control theory, materials analysis, as evidenced by major project outcomes, reports, publications, patents. Extensive breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline and of research and development methods and techniques to work within established research programmes, with proven competence and technical expertise in: Theory and implementation of Machining R&D including at least two of; machining dynamics, process control, materials analysis, process modelling and simulation. Experience using relevant analysis equipment and analysis software packages for machining dynamics, NC programming, data capture and analytics. Experience of collaborative working, team leadership and project leadership and delivery Experience of building networks of industrial and research stakeholders across the UK and Ireland. Experience assisting in securing substantial revenue or funding to support the activities of the research group. Please note the above are not an exhaustive list.
