Electronics Design Engineer – Mid-Senior Level Opportunity in Automotive R&D!

Location: Lancashire

Salary: Up to £55K (Mid-Senior level)


We are working with a dynamic Research & Development team that specializes in cutting-edge vehicle technology and tools. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electronics Design Engineer to join a forward-thinking company and play a key role in developing innovative products in the automotive sector.


This position is ideal for candidates with 3-5 years of experience in embedded systems design, particularly those with expertise in the automotive industry or similar high-quality standards sectors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects through the entire product design lifecycle, from concept to production.
  • Design circuits, including schematics and PCB layouts, using CadStar / eCadStar / CAD tools.
  • Work closely with teams across mechanical design, software development, and production.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant automotive standards such as EMC and low voltage safety.
  • Conduct hands-on testing, verification, and fault analysis down to component level.
  • Design and implement functional test rigs for in-house use.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing team to advise on component selection and stay informed on market trends.


Desired Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in embedded systems design, preferably within the automotive or similar industry.
  • Proven expertise in PCB design, including mixed analogue, digital, and RF circuits.
  • Experience in microcontroller-based system design.
  • Proficiency in CadStar and/or eCadStar CAD packages.
  • Familiarity with National Instruments LabView and I/O equipment is a plus.
  • A degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field.
