Cell Development Engineer (Gigafactory)

Our client, a leading organisation focusing on battery cell research and manufacturing has an exciting opportunity for a Cell Development Engineer. The successful candidate will work alongside a small and growing team of Scientist and Engineers in Electrochemistry team for development and commercialisation of innovative cell designs.   The Cell Development Engineer will: Plan, develop and execute Design of Experiments for fabrication and testing of lithium-ion cells. Lead design, development, testing and validation of lithium-ion cells. Evaluate cell performances and drive improvement activities. Select and evaluate new chemistries and materials for lithium-ion cells (active materials, conductive additives, electrodes, electrolytes, separators etc.) Liaise with customers and external test houses. Prepare comprehensive reports, technical specifications and lead all cell design gate reviews.   The Cell Development Engineer will have: Masters or PhD in electrochemistry or other related discipline 5 or more years of direct industrial experience in lithium-ion battery industry for both laboratory and commercial-grade cells (such as 21700 and/or pouch cells). Knowledge and experience of electrochemical techniques such as impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic cycling (GC), galvanostatic intermittent titration techniques (GITT or PITT), DQ/DV etc. Experience of writing technical specifications for components and assemblies.
