JOB TITLE: Assistant Site Realibility Engineer
SALARY: £45,954pa to £51,060pa plus the benefits mentioned below
LOCATION: Manchester
HOURS: Full-Time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, and the role will require the successful candidate to be spending at least two days per week, or a minimum of 40% of their time in the Manchester hub.

Job Profile Summary
An exciting opening has arisen for an Assistant Site Reliability Engineer within the Core Banking System Platform. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Reliability Engineer to join our dynamic team within the Next Gen Core/Next Gen Insights Lab. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our Core Banking System, specifically Thought Machine Vault. This is a rare opportunity to join the team as a Site Reliability Engineer as we work to deliver the first of many new Banking products onto Vault.
A typical day in this role would include… What your key accountabilities will be
Assisting in the automation of operational processes and systems.
Supporting service recovery during outages through incident and problem management.
Participating in post-mortems for incidents to identify root causes and areas for improvement.
Contributing to the implementation of new SRE practices to enhance service levels.
Helping manage DevOps tooling services, ensuring compliance and risk management.
Collaborating with Engineering Teams to understand challenges and deliver value through DevOps solutions.
Promoting security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Working with other teams to ensure smooth integration and delivery.
Communicating with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide updates.
Identifying opportunities for performance improvements in systems and applications.
Assisting in capacity planning to ensure systems can handle future growth.
About you
Experience as an SRE, Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or in a similar software or cloud role.
Experience with CI/CD tools – Jenkins/GitHub Actions/Harness.
Understanding of Monitoring tools – Dynatrace/Splunk/Grafana/Prometheus.
Strong problem-solving skills and experience in incident management and resolution.
Understanding of SRE concepts and principles.
Experience with CI/CD tools and a basic understanding of DevOps practices.
Good analytical skills and the ability to work methodically.
Programming and scripting experience.
It would also be great if you had experience of:
Familiarity with Cloud Platforms – GCP, AWS, Azure.
Basic knowledge of Containerization – Kubernetes/Docker.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools e.g., Chef, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet.
ITIL or Service management experience.
Exposure to Agile work practices.
Basic understanding of Application Lifecycle Management and Software Delivery Lifecycle.
Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and high availability design.
Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
