Product Design Engineer

Job Title: Design Engineer Design Engineer Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 Orion is currently working with an innovative manufacturing company based in Shefford. We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join their friendly team and work hands-on in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be primarily involved in designing components for water management systems. Design Engineer Responsibilities: Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team Design and detail water management systems Develop engineering proposals Create 2D & 3D designs using Solidworks & AutoCAD Manage project contracts from start to finish Interpret and work from engineering drawings Communicate with customers Create and manage BOMs Implement design modifications Design based on customer specifications Collaborate with sales/purchasing teams to generate tender documents Execute layout designs General mechanical design – sensor bracketry, equipment mounting, etc. Design Engineer Required Experience: Proficient with design software such as CATIA, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and CREO Experienced with 3D CAD – AutoCAD Inventor and Volt Skilled in 2D design Background or degree in Mechanical Engineering (HNC level or equivalent) Experience with sheet metal, concrete, plastics, fabrication, and welding Familiarity with pumps, pressure vessels, hydraulics, and pneumatics Understanding of automated production machinery Detail-oriented with a systematic work approach Strong team player and effective mentor Eagerness to develop skills and knowledge Ability to work collaboratively across departments and on the shop floor Design Engineer Package: Competitive salary of £35,000 - £38,000 DOE 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays 6% pension contribution Christmas shutdown Life insurance Private healthcare Onsite parking Design Engineer Shifts: Monday – Thursday: 09:00 – 17:00 Friday: 09:00 – 16:30
