Lead Software Engineer Newcastle / Hybrid Salary - DOE / Negotiable The Role You will be responsible for overseeing the complete software development lifecycle, including: - Leading all phases from initial planning, requirement analysis, estimation, and design to development, testing, deployment, and maintenance. - Creating and managing project plans, determining sprint priorities, and assigning tasks to ensure successful delivery. - Identifying resource requirements for specific projects and addressing any challenges. - Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide regular project updates, ensuring clarity on progress and timelines. - Partnering with the R&D team to devise technical solutions that meet project needs. - Overseeing technical software delivery to ensure solutions are architecturally sound, maintainable, and testable. - Offering architectural guidance and development leadership when necessary. - Managing risks associated with project delivery and communicating any concerns to minimise their impact. - Continuously improving delivery processes to drive efficiency and innovation. - Leading and conducting code reviews to ensure alignment with coding standards and best practices. - Prioritising backlogs and managing bug fixes. - Mentoring and coaching junior team members to foster their growth. Related Experience - Proven experience leading software development teams and enhancing methodologies and processes. - Experience with configuration control and managing change processes. - Strong background in managing embedded software projects throughout the entire development lifecycle. - Experience leading fast-paced teams in dynamic environments. - In-depth knowledge of software development principles and best practices. - Familiarity with automated testing methods and frameworks. - Experience working with release management processes. - Ability to balance both high-level strategic planning and crucial detail-oriented tasks. - Expertise in embedded software, APIs, and web services. Skills and Competencies - Proficient in Embedded C/C++ using structured and object-oriented methodologies. - Experience in code analysis, unit testing, verification, and validation. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - Familiarity with Atlassian tools like JIRA and Confluence. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines and a strong understanding of effective development practices.
