Job Requirements / Description

My client are looing for an interior designer with experience. You will have experience in, designing interior spaces in new and refurbished buildings; meeting functional and aesthetic goals; researching and purchasing furnishings and fittings; and establishing corporate or an individual client base. You will have managed projects & clients throughout the design & implementation process. The projects in question for this client are commercial fit-outs and refurbishments.

Interior Designer Responsibilities

  • Designs interior spaces, including permanent architectural details and temporary elements.
  • Assesses and meets client requirements and desires through regular meetings.
  • Produces sketches, drawings, and floor plans to illustrate concepts and finished projects using computer-aided design programs (CAD) and hand 1 drawing skills.
  • Creates idea/mood boards to communicate design concepts to clients.
  • Selects design strategies and colour palettes to create a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing scheme.
  • Enhances and improves interior spaces functionality by modifying architectural elements and arranging furnishings, artwork, and décor.
  • Creates project budgets, including materials and labour.
  • Establishes project timelines and coordinates work activity, involvement, and external contractors as necessary.
  • Negotiates pricing for materials and labour.
  • Maintains relationships with suppliers and external contractors, and subcontracts work as necessary.
  • Actively develops a client base.
  • Performs research and maintains a working knowledge of trends and new developments in the interior design and architecture worlds.
  • Adheres to building and safety regulations with every design element.
  • Reads and interprets plans.
  • Works closely with colleagues, within the business and the group.
  • Produce structured documents & follow work processes.
  • Prepare Information packages to allow information to be handed to internal departments effectively.
  • Regularly review and confirm understanding of all projects and tasks.

Requirements

  • Ideally at least 2 years experience previously as an Interior Designer at some level
  • A portfolio of previous completed work
