Department FunctionThe Technical and Design department provides tools and guidance to the business, including standard house types, construction specifications and construction details. The guidance can be formal, such as documents like “Our Approach to Placemaking” and help given through the technical feedback forum, or it may be more ad hoc, with a simple phone call or visit to site to discuss an issue. The T&D team is also involved in the leadership of TW, through tactical or strategic interventions such as the development of a new house-type range, improving our groundworks design or running training programs for our design and technical staff. The T&D team also have a part to play in building the TW community, through events such as the Technical Directors conferences, the Design Competition, and the Design Leads conference. Primary ResponsibilitiesHealth, Safety & Environment Competently implement CDM/EMS, identifying foreseeable risk in designs and taking action to design risk out, in line with company policy. Discharge the Designers responsibilities under CDM regulations. Fully understand the CDM/EMS regulations and demonstrate a working knowledge of how these should be incorporated into designs. Ensure CDM/EMS site start processes and site close out procedures are followed and recorded. Maintain a good understanding of environmental/ecological constraints to development and ensure that appropriate mitigation is undertaken to allow development to proceed in line with the Regional Programme. Land and, Planning & Community Engagement Continue to develop site designs and provide full engineering support throughout the planning and building regulation process. Manage consultants in road, sewer, levels, cut and fill designs, to satisfy planning whilst maintaining the most competitive and practical solution. Co-ordinate and manage external consultants to resolve any engineering issues. Co-ordinate and manage statutory bodies such as Highway Authorities/ Road authority, Water Companies, Environment Agencies etc to resolve any engineering issues. Work with the project team to add value and secure the best planning consent and engineering solution for the company. Manage community engagement consultations to support planning applications. Responsible for evaluation and appraisal of development opportunities to purchase new sites. Inclusivity StatementAs a proud Disability Confident Employer, Taylor Wimpey is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce.
