Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Lead Engineer Aerospace Seating on a permanent employment basis to be based at our clients site in Cwmbran.

Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

Role summary:

The successful Lead Engineer will have in-depth experience within aircraft interior design, specifically seating design, and the ability to deliver product development projects on time, to cost and the highest quality standards.

Dimension of Function:

Lead Engineer will be responsible to develop complex design concepts and mechanisms, BOMs, detailed design of seating components and lead successful design integration to ensure customer/airframer regulatory requirements are met.

Contacts:

The Lead Engineer will lead the mechanical design team and will be the focal point of communication with customer and suppliers related to mechanical design aspects.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Developing complex design concepts and mechanisms, BOMs, detailed design of seating components and leading successful design integration to ensure customer/airframe regulatory requirements are met.
  • Accountable for checking and validating design deliverables produced within design organization throughout product lifecycle.
  • Leading design reviews and ensure on time delivery of engineering milestones.
  • Responsible for applying processes and methods for product design and ensuring process compliance through change management, design optimization, DFMEA, GD&T, design for manufacture and knowledge management.
  • Works with Design and manufacturing team regarding design and refurbishment of Seating parts.
  • Should be able to work on Layout of Passenger Accommodation (LOPA). Prefer knowledge of Ergonomics and Aerospace standards
  • Should Create design guidelines and best practices for aggregate integration
  • Track and highlight key risks and mitigation mechanisms
  • Guide team for debugging support, risk mitigation ensuring Lean design methodology.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering team to meet project Milestone
  • Support ITCM, PDR and CDR when required
  • Responsible of design engineering deliverables

Knowledge / Experience:

  • Experience of Aerospace seating design & aircraft assembly line.
  • Experience in Aerospace manufacturing processes and Industrial standards.
  • Good knowledge on creation of Guidelines and Project Lean Design Roadmaps
  • Experience in developing the templates and standards to be used in the Industrial Process & innovative solutions.
  • Knowledge of Aerospace design standards
  • Good Understanding of Industrial assembly for the Aerospace manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in use of various modules of CATIA V5, ENOVIA & Smarteam is preferable.
  • Previous history working with Global Aerospace Clients
