Role Overview:

The Senior Mechanical Designer will provide technical support and leadership to a multidisciplinary design team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality designs across the project lifecycle, from concept to in-service support. This role requires strong CAD skills, effective communication, and a solid understanding of relevant engineering and design practices. Specialist knowledge in a specific design area is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and refine design solutions, resolving complex issues.
• Offer technical guidance and advice to the design team.
• Ensure adherence to technical standards and design governance.
• Work independently with significant technical autonomy.

Requirements:

• HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Extensive experience in detailed design environments.
• Proficiency in CAD tools and general engineering drawing practices.
• Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards).
• Proven experience leading a multidisciplinary design team.
• Strong communication and cross-discipline collaboration skills.

Desirable:

• Membership in a relevant professional institute.
• Experience in commercial or defence projects.
