Role: Maintenance Engineer
Location: Crick, Northamptonshire (NN6 7AF)
Shift: 4 on, 4 off, (rotating days and nights, 12-hour shifts)
Salary: £53,182.99 (including shift allowance) plus bonus

The Role
As a Maintenance Engineer, you'll use your mechanical and electrical expertise to maintain and enhance the performance of our production plant and equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring our production lines run smoothly and efficiently, providing vital support to production teams and factory services. Your responsibilities will include diagnostics, fault-finding, planned preventative maintenance, and helping train production staff in first-line maintenance.
You ll also:
- Perform diagnostics and fault-finding on both mechanical and electrical systems
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance activities, ensuring any downtime is logged and methods for reducing this are explored
- Support production teams to ensure all equipment operates efficiently and to a high standard
- Maintain GMP standards for food processing, keeping the site audit-ready
- Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure that machinery is properly maintained and all health and safety standards are adhered to
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe working environment by complying with all statutory safety, health, and environmental requirements
- Log and monitor repair times, continually finding ways to improve
- Offer engineering support to production to keep operations running at optimal performance
- Train and develop production staff to carry out first-line maintenance tasks safely and efficiently
About You
To succeed in this role, you ll need to have a strong background in both mechanical and electrical maintenance. A time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications are essential, alongside experience in a similar fast-paced manufacturing environment ideally within the food sector.
Key qualifications and experience we re looking for include:
- Electrical and mechanical qualifications with at least 3 years of maintenance experience
- Strong knowledge of PLC systems (Siemens S7, S5, Allen Bradley)
- Competence in fault-finding and analysis, both electronically and mechanically
- A proactive and self-managing attitude, able to work both independently and as part of a team
