What you will be working on 

As an Associate Director you will be part of the leadership team supporting the UKI Director with setting up operations for our new Scotland office. 

 

You will help manage and schedule an assortment of cutting-edge projects simultaneously along with leading a team that delivers advanced fire & life safety systems designs, codes reviews and analysis for new and existing projects within the built environment. 

 

You will provide the highest standards of technical excellence and quality of presentation consistent with a top-class consultancy firm. You will also act as a lead mentor within the team, offering coaching and guidance to assist others in their professional development.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Sourcing, recruiting, onboarding, and managing the Scotland Office team.

  • Driving profitable and sustainable work-winning and assist in maintaining up to date forecasting.  
  • Identifying work opportunities with internal teams, external clients, and design teams.  
  • Developing and implementing a business strategy and innovative strategic initiatives across the business.  
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative and engaging client relationships and driving marketing and networking activities to potential clients.  
  • Managing all commercial activities across your region.  
  • Building and maintaining a financial and resourcing budget for pipeline work and successful project delivery.  
  • Providing technical and managerial leadership to the fire engineering team to deliver an exceptional consultancy service.  
  • Developing, implementing, and leading a robust delivery schedule for all fire safety project assignments to ensure quality, service and financial commitments are always maintained.  
  • Providing advisory support to clients and activity negotiating with them when necessary.  
  • Leading the development of fire engineering solutions on projects and delivering the fire engineering strategy.  
  • Contributing to the formulation of design concepts and approaches.  
  • Leading the development of fire strategy documents for new projects and refurbishments.  
  • Leading design team meetings and liaising with client representatives as required.  
  • Leading out on performance-based design solutions.  
  • The preparation and development of fee proposals.  
  • Being customer and end user centric  
  • Leading the professional and technical development of the fire engineering team.  
  • Adherence to company policies, procedures, and values.  
  • Ensuring that when entering site, all Health and Safety regulations are strictly complied with, and that all protective/safety equipment is fully utilised. 
  • Operating within Joule Group terms and conditions, policies and quality assurance systems. 
  • Undertaking other duties within the competence of the post holder, as may be reasonably required from time to time. 
  • Communicating effectively (verbally, in writing and electronically) to meet the job purpose.  

  

Qualifications/ Experience 

  • Master’s Degree/ Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Safety Engineering or equivalent qualification. 
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a strategic role.  
  • Experience in a consulting or client facing role. 
  • Membership of a professional body.  
  • Relevant working at height, CSCS, asbestos training/qualifications. 
  • In-depth knowledge of fire safety regulations and codes. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
