Job title Trainee Electronics & Software Technician Department Mechanical Engineering Salary Starting from £24,044, rising to £25,433 Closing date Sunday 27 October 2024 The Faculty of Engineering and Design is looking to appoint a trainee Software Developer Technician to provide support to our instrumentation and electronics team, covering both teaching and research activities across the faculty. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing electronics and software support to staff and students as required for various project activities. Training will be provided in the form of a Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship, which will be delivered remotely by our training partner. This qualification will consist of one day per week as a part of your full-time role, for around 24 months. In the longer-term, the role requires working closely with customers in order to identify and understand their requirements, and to deliver innovative solutions to satisfy these. As part of the Instrumentation team, you will work with technical staff and other colleagues across the faculty to maintain and deliver a high quality support service to the teaching and research efforts of the universitys engineering departments. About you: This role will require a good understanding of data acquisition and control systems, including associated hardware. A broad general knowledge of electronics software development is desirable. You should be qualified to GCSE level, and be able to demonstrate level 2 functional skills or equivalent in English and Maths. Please note that for the apprenticeship qualification, you must not have more than six months professional experience working as a software developer or hold either a degree or Masters degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
