This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Lead or Principal Developer/Architect with a passion for hands-on development and leadership. The Role As the Lead Web Developer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the company's Ruby on Rails platforms built within AWS architecture. The platform receives raw data that will then be processed and aggregated to allow you visualise the data for the end clients. You will work closely with senior leadership and stakeholders to define and execute the technology roadmap, helping to steer the company's technical direction. This is a hands-on position where you will lead by example, initially working independently while building and growing a development team as the business expands. Key responsibilities include: Maintaining and enhancing the platform from day one. Implementing CI/CD pipelines to support product scalability. Collaborating with stakeholders to align the technical roadmap with business goals. Introducing innovative approaches to improve code quality and development productivity. Processing and simplifying complex data sets, ensuring a future-proof platform. Ensuring the platform is scalable and can adapt to increasing demands. The Person We are seeking a dynamic individual with a strong background in Ruby on Rails and AWS architecture, with experience in developing full web stacks. You will have a proven track record in leading projects independently and aspire to grow into a leadership role. You are someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for building scalable, efficient systems. Key qualifications and experience: Proven expertise in Ruby on Rails development. Strong experience with AWS architecture, including Amazon Load Balancing, SQS, CloudWatch monitoring and Lambda for microservices. Experience with TDD. MongoDB experience to store, aggregate and query large volumes on data. Hands-on experience in developing and leading web development projects. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and scalable infrastructure. Understanding of algorithmic data processing and ability to Interest or basic knowledge in Physics/Thermodynamics is a plus. Capable of working remotely with bi-weekly travel to the Head Office in Watford.
