I am working with a Scottish engineering company who are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer. They have built up a very successful reputation over the last 20+ years to manufacture high-quality, bespoke equipment. They have an extensive manufacturing capability. Their engineering talent is renowned in the oil & gas sector for their design and manufacturing of IWOCS, production control systems and subsea assemblies.

Their engineering talent is renowned in the oil & gas sector for their design and manufacturing of IWOCS, production control systems and subsea assemblies.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead engineer and client technical point of contact on new designs/builds for use in offshore oil and gas environment, working to client specifications & regulatory standards
- Create engineering calculation packages to validate designs using hand calculations and FEA software (topside and subsea structures)
- Liaise with vendors to select components (pumps/motors/gearboxes etc) for umbilical reels/hydraulic power unit systems and validate selection with calculations
- Generate 3D concept designs based on client specification
- Review and approve fabrication/manufacture/assembly drawings
- Lead design reviews with internal and external parties
- Generate test procedures and operation manuals for equipment
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years experience in design role
- Experience in design of fabricated structures for offshore/subsea environment to DNV standards
- Experience using modelling software (preferably SolidWorks and AutoCAD)
- Experience using FEA software for stress analysis (preferably SolidWorks or ANSYS)
- Experience with bolted and welded connection designs
- Knowledge of rotating equipment design (selecting shafts/bearings/gears)
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic drive systems advantageous
- Knowledge of ATEX and design of equipment for hazardous area advantageous
